Nah phones have dramatically gone up in price. Since the subsidies stopped the manufactures raised the price and were creeping up on flagship phones that cost a grand. Mind you these phones probably cost them $200 or maybe a little more to make. Look at the last 4 iPhone models. They aren't even bothering to redesign them. Almost half a decade of the same external design and the price creeps up.
Dudes in here are just sillythey're not, the companies are finally acknowledging they can fleece you idiot for every dime you have, when the interior components are made in a factory by the shyt load... most of the cell phone components that make a cell phone is common...
yep, you're paying a premium when you want the 'best camera', 'best screen', 'longest lasting battery', etc
They are computers, gaming systems, phones, cameras, filmmakers, workstations etc.
The disconnect is it cost far less to make these phones than we pay. iPhones that cost $220 or so to make sell for $700+. Phones don't cost this much because of what they can do. They cost so much because phone makers can get away with it so they do.

Where doesn't that disconnect exist tho? What product is sold at the cost to produce it? There are choices, u don't have to spend $1000 on a phone there are devices more than capable of handling what most people do on a daily basis for half the cost. There will be a mark up for name brands like Apple but that's just the nature of the beast.
