can someone tell me why this shyt has become the norm?

bought friday the 13th day 1 and only got past the title screen a few times. shyts got all kinds of fukked up server issues. considering its an online only game this shyt is unacceptable. and the fact its a digital game means I can't even use the game disc as a coaster so it's literally useless.

remember when you bought a game and it just worked :francis: gotdayum what a concept

Get it out now for the launch profit for the Quarter.

Treat the early adopters as beta testers to find any bugs and glitches they missed

Patch the issues at a later date.
All on the money. Day 1 patches have basically made that timeframe between going gold and launch day room for additional testing that developers have come to lean on too hard. This timeframe to fix last minute issues isn't enough time, especially with publishers pinning developers against the wall with stringent timelines.

Nintendo delivers quality day 1 launches (software-wise) because they don't do that dumb shyt.

but this didn't used to happen before :why: why now

did it come with the onset of online gaming? because games didn't come out broken during the xbox/ps2 era. they worked fine.

Consumers and publishers want the game out at a certain time, so there probably isn't enough time to fix everything.

I blame crowdfunding and early access. They start creating a game that they clearly don't have the budget for, drop it, everyone cops and they claim to intend to use the revenue to improve the game to what it was originally intended. Instead what happens is that they take the money, disband the studio and leave it broken, or take the money, work on something else and drop a patch every blue moon to keep you on your toes.

silly excuse.

This wasn't an issue pre-online gaming.

Now they just want ppl to buy the game and they worry about fixing it later.

EA Sports did this year after year and still does with MAdden. You would think they would learn to fix the issue befor the next yr.

As the first responder said, if its an established franchise, like Mass Effect: Andromeda, they know they can sell a shyt ton if they release it when they say it will, especially if its in a month where there isnt much competition. Get that money, patch it later, hope its good to go by the time the folks that normally wait a bit decide to dive in.

The reason why I still havent bought Dishonored 2 on PC yet. The first one is one of my top 5 games of the past 10 years. But I still haven't played the second because I still don't hear good things about it. Its a damn shame. Publishers force these devs to push the product out, whether its ready or not. It sucks for the consumer and for the developer because it hurts their reputation and even their legacy.

That's why its beautiful when games like Persona 5 or Horizon come out and the bugs are mostly non-existent. Almost rare. The majority of the chat about the game is about....the actual game. Not shyt taking away from it.

If da game is broken and needs patches and constant fixes that's guaranteed future billable hours.

If I make da game too perfect they won't need me for ne thing for a longer period of time
