can someone tell me why this shyt has become the norm?

bought friday the 13th day 1 and only got past the title screen a few times. shyts got all kinds of fukked up server issues. considering its an online only game this shyt is unacceptable. and the fact its a digital game means I can't even use the game disc as a coaster so it's literally useless.

remember when you bought a game and it just worked :francis: gotdayum what a concept

Some games you just know will have problems upon release. And this Jason game was one of them. They have a certain look to them.

Oblivion and New Vegas had the same look.

Well...... There's always been bugs, but now QC is out the window, especially when it's about maximising profit as quickly as prossibru. Why delay something to fix bugs when you can
Rerease a day one patch

Or

Get customers hopes up by telling them you'll fix it later one?

shyt companies like EA and Ubisoft got us by the bawls brehs.

Edit: And :laff: @ rust still being in early access. What in the pure fukk?!?!

Budgets haven't caught up with the aspirations of the companies and audiences

Instead of making games better, they make 'em bigger and spend more money on graphics and "scope"

ME:A wouldn't been a dope game if they cut out the "open world elements" and busy work side quests

but this didn't used to happen before :why: why now

did it come with the onset of online gaming? because games didn't come out broken during the xbox/ps2 era. they worked fine.
silly excuse.

This wasn't an issue pre-online gaming.
You both are wrong. Pre online we wasn't getting games for free, we didn't have access to nearly as many titles as we do now. But games would still come out broken. There was no internet to warn you so you had to read EGM/etc.(my nikka Dan Shu) Superman 64 is a memorable title, EA titles would work, but the graphics didn't change that much, just a roster change and a new dunk. Really, we wasn't picky back then. I think we actually enjoyed finding glitches in games back in those days. The Mario 1-up glitch would have been patched out of that game if it came out post ìnternet :francis:
As the first responder said, if its an established franchise, like Mass Effect: Andromeda, they know they can sell a shyt ton if they release it when they say it will, especially if its in a month where there isnt much competition. Get that money, patch it later, hope its good to go by the time the folks that normally wait a bit decide to dive in.

The reason why I still havent bought Dishonored 2 on PC yet. The first one is one of my top 5 games of the past 10 years. But I still haven't played the second because I still don't hear good things about it. Its a damn shame. Publishers force these devs to push the product out, whether its ready or not. It sucks for the consumer and for the developer because it hurts their reputation and even their legacy.

That's why its beautiful when games like Persona 5 or Horizon come out and the bugs are mostly non-existent. Almost rare. The majority of the chat about the game is about....the actual game. Not shyt taking away from it.
What's odd is you named a game (horizon)that does have bugs. They not game breaking bugs but that applies to most games. So I guess this post was a Sony yeah post. I say that because Sony had the most incomplete titles overall. Nintendo has the least.

What about Xbox?

They are like Nintendo but better, here's why. Nintendo is all about making quality sequels, while adding a new title to that equation. Microsoft to my knowledge has always had top quality titles. Halo, Gears, Forza and Forza horizon have been bug free to my recollection. Only times they've had issues was getting too ambitious with its online components which they always figured out (competition cannot say that)

The last and most revealing point is how Microsoft took it a step further :wow: they future proofed games this gen because Scorpio was always apart of the plan. They said before launch we would be gaming in 4k. Halo, Forza, battlefield1 and gears all have 4k assets and unlocked frame rates. shyt you can't even use on Xbox one.

Scalable and/or cloud gaming. Crackdown 3 and sea of thieves will be complete experiences, guaranteed :handshake:

Developing is more expensive as the scale of games are grander(have you ever seen the end credits on most of these games? Holy shyt), publishers are less patient and forcing developers to speed up to meet release, more competition(not only from numerous other devs, but other platforms). Online has also made it where you can just patch issues OTA instead of taking time to iron things out like before. Also, the standards are honestly getting lower. The shyt with ME where they are tasking cosplay designers to handle facial animations is just pathetic. That would be unheard of 16 years ago.

Games have always been fukked up and glitchy. The difference now is the game can be patched whereas pre online gaming you just dealt with it.

Consumers and publishers want the game out at a certain time, so there probably isn't enough time to fix everything.
I haven't gamed in years other than emus and such, but can they at least fix the first 3 stages or so? I'm glad I never bought a digital/online only game in my life.

Shenmue 3 will be my first foray into gaming in years....shyt better be spotless

We the consumers are expecting too much out of $60 games :hubie:
