To answer Op Those shirts are everywhere. Target, Sears and all that shyt. If you want dope shirts you have to live by an obscure record shop or Amoeba. The one in LA actually had that Digital Underground tee last time I was there

I don't even think Earth Wind & Fire and the Isley Brothers make T-Shirts. Anyway,I blame the parents who don't teach the youth about those legendary black bands. To answer your question,kids wear the rock shirts to appear different/alternative. It's a social effort.
