I was reading and article on yahoo about LaMarcus Aldridge and the crux of the article was he was mentally drained from the whole free agency process. A lot of the article had common sense answers as to why he might feel that way. Jump to the comments and every other comment is about how much money he will make and how he should shut up and basically not feel this way because of it.

By and large this is what discussions about professional athlete deteriorate into 9 times out of 10. No matter what the actual story may be about, it becomes "he makes 1 trillion dollars, shut up and you're not allowed to have any real life issues". Are people really this fukking miserable? I'm not a millionaire or even "well paid", but I just can't be mad at the next man because he's making millions.

The same reason nobody have a fukk about Kanye's rant about the fashion industry. The average Joe simply doesn't care/want to hear about rich people problems.

I can dig that, but rich people are still PEOPLE! So at what dollar amount do your problems become muted because of the money you make? And in the sports realm specifically, I just don't see the same types of feeling towards the owners who make exponentially more than the players they pay!

Because alot of people are ignorant and believe money can solve anything. They project what they would do in thier situation but fail to realize that they simply don't know about the stresses of being rich and famous. Owners don'tget criticized for the money they make because they are not in the spotlight or "complaining" about how tough it is to be a billionaire. If they did, they would get roasted as well.

I don't understand why people get mad either. When you're one the best in the world at your trade, then you're gonna get rewarded as such. only reason I can see folks hating athletes is cuz the amount they are making is so highly publicized and covered by the media.

doesn't matter if you're the best:

baseball player
basketball player
swimmer
tennis player
actor
ceo
politician
rapper
musician
singer
teacher
doctor
business man
comedian
computer programmer

it applies to almost all disciplines when you're at the top .1% of the field.

Their money is pretty well-deserved in my opinion. Greatest athletes in the world deserve a great percentage of the income that the owners pull in off of revenue. However, I think in relation to the average teacher or policeman salary, people feel that those jobs with more real-world Impact are underpaid, which I can see also. It is what it is though, can't complain at how successful athletes make themselves. It's their job.
