why are all the stoic badasses in the military women :bustback: and all the men overly emotional limp-wristed fakkits? :wrist:

is this a feminist anime? is that why its so popular?

if the creators wanted to subvert genre tropes they could've done it in a way less hackneyed way. this anime is wack as fukk :patrice:

Most of these animes have women strong as fukk and the men weak.

I don't know why tho.

This is happening across all types of media. Big Bang Theory, Her, pro sports, hip-hop, anime, etc etc. I think it speaks to something ominous and dark in the future of mankind. Misandry has become the standard, the end is near.

Everyone else pointed out Levi already, but that aside, who cares? Why does it have to be "hackneyed" or "subverting genre tropes?" Why can't it just be an anime among others? I don't get how diversity in these things is always interpreted as some conscious effort to make a statement about them. Some of the most famous anime have featured storylines where the men took on the traditionally feminine roles. Evangelion is one. Fullmetal Alchemist did this to some extent (it was actually created and written by a woman, and is one of the most balanced anime in history as far as having both men and women characters of many diff kinds,) etc.
