Why are there barely any young black adults in church?

There is no religion that has the "final, universal truth", at least not one that's practiced today on a large scale in America.

I believe that all religions can be traced back to the one true religion, and the only way to get there is to be open minded and constantly improving upon the religion you were raised in until we get to the point where we all can agree on the basic practices and beliefs that unify us all.

I took a class on Greek mythology in college and the whole time I was in class I would be thinking damn that sounds like a story in the bible.

The Bible is based heavily on previous parables and stories. They actually teach this in theology school but you won't hear it from the pulpit.

My post was aimed toward the OP--about church. You don't know my personal experiences or my life to speak to what I need(a therapist). I know that God does exist, and I can already tell that you want me to "prove" that God exists from a logical standpoint, or prove how what I'm speaking isn't some self improvement bullshyt. Black youth are under constant attack from the elders who dont get it and simply the elements of being black. they not trying to hear the speech the church gave big mama 30 years ago....meanwhile 30 years later, it's the same shyt..

Jobs are even scarcer with less hours and the privileges the baby boomers enjoyed isn't there for us now..

But I do realize the benefits of religion when trying to maintain society and encourage individual growth and development.

The Bible was never meant to be taken literally, but it's filled with stories/fables/parables/life codes that can help with personal and community development if used correctly.

Stories that come from other religions/spiritual systems that came way before Christianity existed, that can be used to your advantage today if understood and applied correctly.

Blame your family/community for not giving you a base to grow spiritually, instead of getting mad at nikkas on a message board, and concluding on the belief that there isn't a higher power/life force/creating principal that can improve your life if you do the work to understand and apply it for your own personal growth.

i assume the real reason has more to do with the fact that the church doesnt pay off in practical ways, such as providing useful career advancement and networking, or meaningful political power to punish cops. the black church is becoming useless. prosperity preaching only works when the congregation is gainfully employed. most young people, even with professional black parents, will not be middle class because affirmative action has been severely crippled in recent years and the economy has become permanently worse.
