why are there so many types of toothpaste?

I think nearly every toothpaste now has some sort of whitening agent.
It's really weird, which is why I try to buy the normal toothpaste. Last week it took me like 7 minutes to find a toothpaste that wasn't whitening.
I dunno, I just think all those chemicals can't be good for you.

Then again, maybe we're all gonna get cancer anyway.

Same reason nike sells different types of kicks (e.g. tennis shoes, track shoes, bowling shoes).

toothpaste is a $12.6 billion dollar industry worldwide

companies fighting for every 0.1% of that pie

I'm on dat baking soda wave

Same here. There's something about baking soda that makes your mouth feel that much cleaner. I'm confused as to why he picked toothpaste, of all products vent frustrations.
