You missed the point completely.

General purpose toothpastes and general purpose sports kicks (.e.g. cross training shoes) already exist, but there are still groups of consumers out there that want dedicated products so in response companies make dedicated products to sell to them, its really that simple.

pesiticide used that was banned and used to be in toothpaste, in America.
till it was outlawed.
ddt, is still used in toothpaste in other countries.
that is why they tell you to pack your own toothpaste, when traveling internationally.

In the UK colgate do a brand called 'colgate total', they used to do it without an antibacterial agent ,triclosan, .. they put that in it,claiming it helps with gum disease etc etc , and the fukking toothpaste gave me really bad mouth ulcers,it literally tore my mouth apart,even gave me a sore throat. I have read a few others got this from triclosan.I bought their sensitive brand around the same time,thinking they wouldn't put that in it, but they did, and the same things happened. So I never buy colgate for that reason, and I check the ingredient list to make sure that isn't in it. Also some of those whitening agents they put in toothpaste, give me sensitive teeth.

So now Iam ultra careful about what I buy because companies of all kinds like to invent new ingredients to give them an edge on competiton.
