2 is greater than 1 from a pure rapping standpoint.

It had something to do with the first version being too street and not being radio friendly or something.

I think back to this song and Reasonable doubt in general....

Hov's accent or rap voice or whatever used to be SO pronounced and crisp sounding.... like all his syllables were ULTRA pronounced.

Listen to it, seriously. All of his words are chopped up by the syllable. Like she's not rhyming or speaking the whole words, but reading separate syllables that happen to sound like whole words to the listener.

By second album, it had more smoothed out to a lazy-ish drawl.

But it's the small things like that. Like "chea" used to be his adlib. I think he stopped using it heavy around Vol. 2? Before it was like "chea" at the beginning of every song, used at the end multiple times like the preemo beat song or whatever.







By the way. Nas is the GOAT.

Doubt there is some big reason for it. He must've liked the beat and wanted to spit over it again. Both version are great so I ain't complaining.
