why are TE's prone to back problems?
Probably a combination of having to block ppl bigger than you and having to go across the middle
They're the same size as Jordan Reed. TE's just put on a little more weight to handle blitzing LB's and DE's
Reed weighs 245 lbs at 6'2. He's a good 25 pounds more than Jones and Jeffrey and they're taller than him. Megatron weighs 235 but at his height for him to be a TE he'd be 260+

Because they were 6'2 Wide Receivers in high school who realized they did not have enough quick twitch muscle fibers if they wanted to pursue the dream of the NFL, so the ones that gain 50lbs who don't mind being a virtual ole school fullback , H-Back or glorified offensive tackle may make it. If they can deal with run blocking.

The Julius Peppers ( I know he a def end), Tony Gonzales', Antonio Gates' and Travis Kelce's, all could hoop but only as non jumper having 4s, but they could crash boards & that indicates good mitts and hand eye, but that non ideal NBA height is a no-no , which leads them for a natural fit as a elite tight end.

Its weird fit sometimes, So take a athlete now, like LSU's Drake Davis, he was an "elite" soccer player who can really dunk and run a 4.3, but he is averge maybe mediocre wr, who could likely be the world's best lacrosse player, but ain't no money in it so generally:hubie: we don't fools wit it.

6'4" brehs like that either play WR or DE/OLB.

The dudes with great hands and decent speed get pushed to WR. The brehs with freakish athletic ability and strength get moved to the defensive side of the ball.

Now if breh is big and intelligent but is more "strong" than "twitchy" he get pushed to left tackle and becomes something like Tyron Smith of the Cowboys. Ain't too many white o-lineman looking like this

:what:

Is it illegal to gain weight in the NFL?
No it's not illegal. What are you talking about? It's not about being allowed...it's about prototype size. TEs are not drafted at 225 you'll be hard pressed to find a pro TE drafted less than 240. The same way no one drafts a 215 LB or a 260 pound DT.
