Well, here is where I diverge from the coli in thinking that both parties have the same end game, and use the same strategy to achieve it....a strategy which benefits the politicians in each party at the expense of the country as whole.
Nearly half the population blames the other half for all their problems, and vice versa....and the only winners are the politicians who maintain power because of it.
can you honestly say that Dems are demonizing another race?
spreading fear of a sure to come race war?
constantly speaking in dog whistles?
singling out certain cities to represent black violence?
demonizing brown and black imigrants?
i realize the dem party isnt perfect
and we certainly have our share of racists and undercover racists
but if you honestly think its "same same"

I agree that Republicans are more out of touch, more explicit, and more dangerous in their rhetoric.
I especially agree that Republicans are more willing to alienate entire groups to achieve political support, and thats far more dangerous than anything that Democrats do.
What I meant is that both parties are aware of the game they're playing, and that their public rhetoric is more about ensuring that game continues to be played because it's in their best interest for it to be played.
Ask most Americans if they'd prefer a single party state with their party in power, and I'd guess they'd say yes. You might even.
To me, thats a bad sign...
