I get ridiculed for seemingly having a preference for light skinned men by both genders. I don't even think I have a preference, I had just never dated a dark skinned man before. :ehh:

I mainly dated light skin men too. But last bf was dark skin, and I'm really attracted to chocolate men right now. :yeshrug:

The truth is black men don't say shyt about colorism because it actually benefits them.

I swear the comments I've read in this thread are straight up delusional and misogynistic. Everyone knows in the black community brown skin and dark skin men are put on a pedestal and sexualised. You'll hear black women of all shades talk endlessly about wanting a chocolate man. Dark skin men get policed about who they're dating, not light skin men. Because in the black community its made clear that dark skin on men is the prize.

Miss me with the bull please.

but what we have to keep in mind is that the brown to dark phenotype with kinky hair being the premier black male is only 25 years old. all my fellow flabby and sick nikkas remember it quite well. it was all about el debarge, taimak, robert off the cosby show, philip michael thomas, special ed, al b. sure, christopher williams, allen payne, bizzy bone and the one light skin nikka from shai lol. when we all left the movie theater after seeing juice in '92 hoes weren't talking about tupac or omar epps, naw they went crazy for khalil kain. and for my mama's generation it was harry belafonte >>>> sidney poitier

so what happened? hip hop music, sports celebrity and edgy masculine urban culture did. shameless self promotion of darker common phenotype black males as sex symbols and lovers. seed was first planted with michael jordan & big daddy kane in '88 and then wesley snipes in the acting world. shadow killin the p*ssy in mo better blues & flipper makin his wife scream in jungle fever didn't hurt. images got burned into sistas minds that maybe the darker nikkas were better in bed and more masculine than lighter dudes. though he's of some admixture, tyson beckford in '93 started really shifting the balance too. he went from being teased by hoes about his dark skin and big lips (let them tell it, they all woke and never engaged in this behavior lol) to being chased down by them in the street. by the time '96 hit it was over, light skin wavy hair nikkas fell to the back and every hoe wanted a bald head dark skin thug with chiseled features fresh out the pen

funny enough black women's tastes are a result of media conditioning. it's been drummed into their heads that dmx is more masculine than shamar moore thus better in bed. but are they really woke? hell naw. feet to the fire these broads got the same views on light and dark skin that black men do. and we can't stop at skin, it's also hair and facial features. give 'em a ice cold 40 oz of truth serum and tell 'em to pick between lupita & amber rose. amber finna win the beauty contest in a LANDSLIDE

So your basically saying the whole trend of black women liking dark skin men is based on the same racist stereotypes & tropes projected by white America?? The stereotype of the black man being the hyper masculine brute

:francis: I mean this whole post was fire! But had to highlight these.

All of this is social conditioning. ALL of it. And all of it aligns to racist stereotypes.

Black women don't get the same energy b/c their colorism aligns more closely to appreciation for blackness but really it can be the internalization of dark skin as being hypermasculine which can also be an offshoot of racist fetishization.

None of this means that a blk dude who likes light skin is necessarily colorstruck or that a blk woman who likes dark skin is fetishizing her own race of men.
It just means that social conditioning is real and something we have to acknowledge as blk people living in a white world.

Look at the folks you’re using as an example to make your point....Kodak Black :stopitslime:

You can go on Twitter right NOW. And find tweets of females saying they don’t date Short, light/dark, skinny/Fat dudes.

Females will ignore all the positive stuff we say about black women (which is the majority by the way) to focus and put emphasis on dudes like Kodak Black and Gilbert Arenas, 2 dudes that’s known for trolling.

We love y’all but Women are big ass hypocrites :yeshrug:
The question is why chicks don't get the same energy and it's because they not nearly as public about hate of dark dudes the way it is in reverse.

You talking about people on Twitter but I'm talking about celebrities AND people on twitter. How many millions of impressionable blk youth follow these celebs? The shyt has a ripple effect.

Black females in the media aren't randomly giving unsolicited hate for dark dudes the way black males in the media seem hell bent on doing.

None of this means there aren't blks who show appreciation for one another but haters hijack our image. And then it doesn't help when blk dudes add insult to injury when they pretend like it's not a problem.

"Dem bytches just ugly. Colorism don't exist.":huhldup:

My ex was light skinned. But the one before him was brown skinned. The dude I talk to now is dark skinned.

Judging by skin tone is just wack to me b/c if you fine, you fine.

i think this is another situation where men and women differ. sure every woman says she likes 6'1 or taller, big hands and chiseled abs but a dude who is the antithesis of that can still get it poppin. money, power, accomplishments, mouthpiece, humor, fashion sense can all supersede any of those expectations

but with us it's more static. also we have to acknowledge male sexuality vs female sexuality, no woman is collecting pictures of men's feet to masturbate to in private lol. nah that's us right there. fetishism and partialism kind of lends to us being more specific about skin color than women are. nikka says he likes light skin broads and it's pretty much the same as big booty or titties in his mind... even if he knows the obvious colorist implications

Nah more like they should be held accountable for the same. If we're all equal then we should all be held accountable equally.
We ain't. :yeshrug: More brehs need to understand that men and women ain't equal and that we're the woman's leader. So, theres more responsibility, accountability, and just things expected from us.

I've deadass seen DS women accuse BM of being a liar for saying he prefers DS. The usual response is he's "settling" for the DS BW until someone lighter comes across. Imagine waking up every day holding a grudge of this magnitude against your racial counterpart. Hella sad.

Can't tell you how many times I've heard this. It's almost like some DS women push you away cuz they're so insecure about themselves. I'm light brown (about Will Smith complexion) and I always preferred darker women and some of them be trying to convince me that I don't. Or they ask "Why? :childplease:" as if it's the most unrealistic thing they've ever heard.

The constant desire of tlr males to be women always amazes me.

Every single dark skin person on this board got called undesirable due to skin tone as a child. Every single one. Male or female. My own mother told me to stop playing soccer and football because i had become "unrecognizably dark"

But as an adult u can put that shyt behind you like most confident, secure adults do. Or you can choose to be one of those twitter types who spends 90% of her posts complaining about men she has never met before fukking chicks lighter than her.

Do yall really wanna be like that? Yall wanna be the male version of those miserable women? Yall wanna make a Twitter account to shyt on women you've never met for fukking dudes ligher than you? Yall wanna get outraged when a chick says, "i need a man with Chris Brown complexion"?

The truth is, alotta yall want to be able to move like females and not deal with the backlash. Thats the truth and you know it. Its not about ending "female hypocrisy" its about figuring out how you can capitalize off of it too

I mean I can't take men seriously sometimes b/c some of youse guys are the first to cry about women being accountable but refuse to clean up your own house.
To date other than Azelia Banks I've never heard a Beyoncé or a Remy Ma or a Normani or a Rihanna or a Ciara or a Nicki Minaj go off on blk men darker than a brown paper bag.

Oh my bad, I forgot that this shyt is actually just a figment of our imaginations...colorism don't even exist.:pachaha:

Keep in mind, I personally think white media recruits self-hating blks to hate on themselves in the media...

You do realize that this post is actually the strongest argument to support what the OP is saying?:skip:

The OP is talking about accountability and being called out. All of those men have been pretty much castigated by black men and reduced to clown status for their views on colorism. Here, insta, twitter, fb, take your pic. Black men who shyt on Dark skin women get shyt on by other black men.

Now would that be the case if these were women stating their love for lightskin men? Im sure they would get clowned on some lesser level, but women do not really go after women hard for their personal choices in complexion the way men do.

Thats why the term dikk policing exists. Anyone who is honest with themselves knows that men hold each other far more accountable for colorism and shyt like that than women.

Im not saying its a good thing or a bad thing, i just think men are different than women. Pretending otherwise is just awkward as fukk to me

You hit the nail on the head with this one. Black men continue to tear down dark skin women while exaulting lightskin women and so called exoticals.
Plus no man has a "preference" for skin unless he is colorstruck, its okay for a woman to be more picky about her type.
As a normal man, your only concern is if she looks good or not.
Men don't disqualify women based on shyt like that.
