That was a personal statement but it applies to capitalist societies in general...we need instant gratification.

Capitalism and instant gratification are mutually exclusive concepts. The very nature of investing money contradicts instant gratification.

Consumption is necessary, and inevitable, in any system of commerce. Materialism =/= Capitalism. And there are billions of Christians and Muslims in capitalist countries, and those are two of the most restrictive religions.
