we're up to our fukkin ears with Ancient Rome themed movies, TV shows, documentaries, etc. :rudy: why doesn't Babylon get any love? (arguably the GOAT ancient civilization, after Egypt) :smugbiden:

there's so much potential for Babylon as a setting for a movie :mindblown: ....the opulence, the decadence, the rituals...

I think ancient Mesopotamia is so culturally obscure, and the lack of a well-known visual style would keep it from being a marketable idea. Most people have a picture in their heads when someone says ancient Egypt, Greece, or Rome, but, aside from a few basics like being the first to have writing, the average layperson can't mentally picture anything about Sumerian culture.

Most Hollywood producers wouldn't consider this marketable, especially considering how expensive period films can be.

Ode to the goat city

the book of revelation also messed up the reputation of the city, since in revelation Babylon is a harlot and represents the devil
