First off let me say that I buy the majority of my games used, and I subscribe to gamefly so Microsoft blocking used games would be bad for me personaly.

But if Microsoft does ban used games it could mean the end for Sony if they don't.

First off people such as myself who only buy used games are horible customers as far as revenue is concerned. We purchase the system which the manufacturers take a loss on. Then we never purchase any games which is where the revenue comes in for the manufactures/publishers. If predominantly used gamers flock to playstaion, they would be actually taking money from Sony, who is in dire need of some cash. If enough people buy a ps4 and don't buy any new games Sony could loose the profits it stands to make on the ps4 game sales.

Second. The idea to block used games assuredly comes from game publishers, and Microsoft wouldn't do it unless they knew the game publishers would support their decision by giving exclusive games/ features/DLC. As a publisher if you knew you'd make more money off games sold on Xbox then you'd make sure the ps4 version came out a couple weeks later or was less appealing than the Xbox version, in order to encourage more people to buy it on Xbox.

Over the course of the console cycle the ps4 would have to foot the entire bill for non revenue generating used gamers. Sony needs to make a lot of money with ps4 so that could cause huge problems for them.

With all of that said I honestly don't think Microsoft will ban used games. (Maybe something like online passes, but an all out ban seems out of the question) it's a very risky move that I'm not sure they are willing to take. But if they do decide to go through with it, I'm sure it's due to the reasons stated above.

nikka why are you trolling, you know they on to us :yeshrug:

What you said is kinda right. Everything was right from the business side of what you talked about.
But what I'm not so sure about is if it would kill sony. Yes, they are on there deathbeds right now, but the fact sony would have used games at all is why some ppl would buy that system over an xbox.
From there, they will buy NEW games and used ones. Now if a large portion of those gamers soley relied on used games then what you are saying becomes true
That won't be a problem for the first year since all games are new :hula:

Also, the blocking of used games. I've come to the conclusion that its gonna be implemented THIS GEN. Sony can't hide a secret for shyt, and I doubt they gonna make that plunge by themselves. So trust me on this one.
Both system will have a used game block to where you can only play the DEMO until you pay for the full game

Sounds gay? It is. The unresolved question is how much will they charge for the activation? I'm guessing no more than $20, maybe $15 if we lucky
Sellers will take the loss on that, everyone will still eat :manny:

Yeah I don't think either company would do it without the other one. But I do think if Microsoft was willing to take that risk alone it would be bad for Sony from a business standpoint. If a gamer goes to the store and picks a ps4 soley because it plays used games then he probably won't be buying any new games(I know I wouldn't) Sony would be loosing money on those gamers. Microsoft would be making a profit off of every system sold, so even if Sony sales more systems xbox could come out on top from a business standpoint, and unless Sony makes a shytload of money with ps4 I don't see them developing a ps5

Honestly it could go either way. I don't think people in general care about used games as much as we like to believe. At least, I don't think it'd have much of an effect on sales as we'd like to believe. It depends on how it's implemented. If you can't play disc on your other owned systems then that's gonna be a problem for people. But I don't think either company would be stupid enough to do that... so we're just gonna have to wait and see.

But I don't think it's advantage or a "plus" for MS if they do it. Let's not get silly here. There's no way in hell Microsoft would like having a ton of users flocking to Sony because of used games. That's not a disadvantage any way you spin it. That's money in Sony's pockets. That's establishing a userbase which is important. MS knows all about that from this gen.

New games should cost 30 max if they want to eliminate used... Its pretty simple. Make new games affordable and u kill the used market. Also digital downloads should cost less than physical format games...

I'm ok with them banning used game. The only times I ever purchased an used game was for achievements (cheap game like them CSI games) or because they didn't have any new in stock.

:manny: Yeah I officially would not give a shyt about used games if games costed around $40. Instead we looking at these greedy ass companies wanting to charge $70 for games AND get rid of used games :comeon:
