idris' accent in the wire was shaky at best. in general, most people faking accents are not particularly good at them unless they are doing a strong accent that can allow for over acting.

but back on subject, hollywood has a tendency to give roles to one or two hot negroes at a time. 2013 was an aberration in terms of black people getting meaningful roles. they seem like they favor blacks from the UK, to be honest it will only be a handful and it will be a fad. black activity in mainstream movies is cyclical with a few male stalwarts like denzel and will smith as the exceptions. in other words, dont read much into it.

That man laid it perfectly. I thought he was American until I heard him in a interview after the show finished

he definitely didnt sound like he was from baltimore and he would slip out of it and end up sounding a little irish mixed with new york depending on his emotional state, LOL

it seems as if anytime a black actor is needed for hollywood with an accent they have to look towards english black actors i.e idris for mandela. why is it black american actors limit themselves so much?
Don Cheadle-Hotel Rwanda
Kerry Washington-LKOS
Forrest Whitaker-LKOS
Morgan Freeman-Invictus

just of the top off my head

White American actors can't do accents either...

How many white american actors are playing foreign characters with believable accents...?

He was born in DC and grew up in MD. The accent is real.
