Me and my pops had this relationship when I was growing up. It took him 18 years of my life to leave drugs alone.

And that was partially due to a huge death in my family that fukked my whole family up

It was a good I had my grandpop(not blood) to teach me about being a man

But once my pops got off drugs and turned his life around I realized he was the strongest man I ever met. Dude taught me so much as a man. And I leaned so much about myself being around him,

He passed a couple years ago and I still think about him every day. It's so much I still could have learned from him man

I say that to say don't out faith in him, but don't give up on him either @MCHZE , cause it's never to late for him to turn his life around

I had the same upbringing my dude, I have cut all ties with my pops. I only see him at reunions and BBQ's and he knows not to call me no more. I ended up just being someone to borrow money from and take him places when I let him back into my life a couple of times and I learned my lesson. Some people will never change, so instead of letting them become a burden to you, you just forget them.
