I mean honestly most of these writers out here don't have the balls to write a piece of mainstream media work where the villain outright wins. not like some moral victory or a half win but a full blown they accomplished their plan and lived happily ever after while the protagonist or heroes lost.
honestly i wanna see this taboo broken but then it'll probably become as cliche as the bittersweet ending where the protagonist dies.
i know a story where the villain outright wins will piss off the audience but this needs to start happening. especially in this new era of villain protagonist.
