When i'm drinking or in the whip I listen to Jeezy/Ross/Kanye etc..

When i'm smoking and alone with my headphones on I listen to Dead Prez/Sean Price/Cormega etc...

Am I the only one who listens to all types of hip hop depending on my mood? These stan wars get old

They always have. The true underground is an antithesis to the mainstream. The only difference is the imbalance and the power of the machine today compared to 5, 10, 15 years ago.

They use to support each other back in the 80's/early 90's before gangsta rap took over. Then that shyt became more about sales and image than actual content. Then the shiny suit era took it to a whole nother level.

They do coexist. A lot of mainstream artists are fans of underground rappers and vice versa. The wedge is created by the fans and the industry. There's more overlap today than there was in the mid/late-90s and most of last decade.

In the 90's rappers who coudlnt even go gold were on the same level as platinum selling artists. The seperation of underground and mainstream started in the mid 2000's.
