What part of his game was preventing him from getting to that level?

Why was he doomed to secondary status?

This guy is one of the most revered players of all time yet he has never sniffed what Jalen Brunson is doing with the Knicks and it makes no sense

He can do everything Brunson can do aside from the physicality. But he was pretty physical himself in his prime.

He should have easily been a number one type player capable of leading a team to at least contending status. Not whatever the fukk kind of wacky career he ended up with.

Every thing have to line up for you

Be on a team where the owner actually wants to win

Have the right teammates

If your the main star

The number 2 knows he is a number 2

The number 3 knows he a 3 and might have to take less money to win

The bench knows they are the bench mob

The coach is not a figure head

It’s not easy to win a title at all

Kyrie was never as durable as Brunson and he’s likely on the spectrum and went through a spiritual journey in his prime that led to him leaving Boston early, and not playing when the Nets would’ve probably had the best team in the east. Brunson is an underdog player with no ego.
What has Jalen done that Kyrie hasn't?
Be the best player on a championship contender. Kyrie is like if Kobe only won one time with Shaq and then went off on his own and never won any individual awards while Vince Carter led the Nets to the finals (if Brunson does that). Would people still view Kobe the same way?

Kyrie is a better ball player, Brunson is a better leader

it’s the same reason why T-Mac despite being more talented than Kawhi is not as successful as a #1.

Kyrie a better all time player currently, but doesn’t have more success as a #1 than JB

Being a number 1 is about holding guys accountable and lifting all boats

Which JB does better than Kyrie despite not being better and actually JB not being better than Kyrie is actually debatable right now, even though Kyrie has a more aesthetically pleasing game.

I also think when GM’s inflate a guys value it effects how those GMs build teams. Our GM, undervaluing JB and the way the media does actually helps him get a better roster imo. They have his weakness (or what they think are weaknesses) in mind.

JB i think had a gm with an honest evaluation of his talents, and that led to better roster construction. He’s a small, big shot making guard with good leadership who is also a defensive liability.

So they added Bridges, OG, for perimeter defense, Hart to be a swiss army knife, and Kept Mitch, gave him KAT for adding scoring.

If they got him and pretended he was this 99 overall we wouldn’t be where we are.

they built a roster to help maximize what he does
