Most have said it. Kyrie isn’t a leader

Brunson was a great locker room guy when he was with Dallas. Him and Luka were close. Brunson wore a eagles jersey with “Luka’s son” on the back after he lost a bet :russ:

The Kyrie Luka friendship felt forced

Let's see

What part of his game was preventing him from getting to that level?

Between the ears

Why was he doomed to secondary status?

When you play next to prime LeBron & KD things work out that way, just like they do for 99% of players

This guy is one of the most revered players of all time yet he has never sniffed what Jalen Brunson is doing with the Knicks and it makes no sense

Brunson hasn't done half of what Kyrie has yet

He should have easily been a number one type player capable of leading a team to at least contending status. Not whatever the fukk kind of wacky career he ended up with.

Tried that in Boston and it didn't work.

Extremely talented on the court but erratic off it and it always ends up coming back to bite any team he's on, on the court eventually. Maybe he's mellowed out now after losing the Nike deal, sponsors, and realizing he's hurt his career more than the injuries have. But that's the story with him it's always been between the ears

Best chance was Boston but both of the j’s thought they were better than him. Something Jalen doesn’t have to worry about in New York. Fit is very important.

More to the game than talent. If we talking Kyrie we gotta start with durability. In the last 11 seasons, he has watched his team's season end from the sidelines 5 times. You gotta be available of you are gonna do anything.

Others have pointed to his leadership. That definitely seems like something he has improved with age and experience.

Also gotta look at his mental. He's known as this clutch assassin but is he really? If Bron or Luka aint by his side running the show, his playoff production is spotty at best. shyt even with Luka by his side he shyt the bed in Boston last year.

Kyrie has a ring, nine-time All-Star

All Kyrie's accomplishments have come from being a secondary star.

When put in the primary seat he's failed miserably. And i don't understand why. Brunson in 3 years has done more as a top option than Kyrie as a top option has done in his entire career. Matterfact Kyrie doesn't even have a single season doing what Brunson has done.

And it's not like he's a Kyle Lowry Or Jamal Murray who are natural accomplished co stars but could never lead a team. His talent is on par with a Brunson. Why could he not elevate a team in the same manner?

Because he doesn't play like Brunson and they are different people with entirely different personalities

He doesn't have to play like him.

But some reason he has never been able to dominate as the focal part of the offense the way Brunson has despite having the same abilities and i'm trying to figure out what the hell is he actually missing out there on the court

Kyrie's health has always been an issue. He's only played over 70 games twice in his career and it's been over a decade since then. You pretty much have to pencil in him missing over a month of games for whatever
Which is crazy because his game doesn’t rely on athleticism.

Even when healthy he's never been able to dominate with the defense completely focused on him like numbers 1 do.

They needed him to step up in the finals last year with Luka being hobbled/trash and he fell way short. He tends to just vanish at times and that's something you would never see from a top option like a Brunson.

I don't know what he's lacking out there...
