Why couldn't they do this for CM Punk two years ago?

Instead of building it up like this we got CM punk squashed until Survivor Series, losing to Triple H and getting punked by Nash, Del Rio and Awesome Truth. He had as much if not more of a buzz in 2011 than Bryan does this year. O well...

Have a stable like the one Daniel Bryan is about to go against.
Triple H should have gone heel then, have Nash as a goon, Del Rio (or anyone else as corporate champ) etc. and have Punk go through everyone.

Punk never even got his win back over HHH

He was just a comedy rebel who like to speak on Stephanie's sex life...Bryan is a hard working cat being ostracized over his look. They have a prejudice against him. That's the center of the storyline.

I agree with you in a sense, but there are a lot of similarities here between punk and Bryan, Bryan even said something about Stephanie tonight with the "laying with trash" line. They didn't like Punk's look either. They are just doing a better job of making Bryan ostracized and them having a prejudice against him as the center of the storyline.

Because Punk is an entitled bum who thinks hes better than he actually is.

Just because you're good in the ring doesn't mean you automatically should get the top title and major storylines when YOU think it should happen. Dude needs to know his role, shut his mouth and wait his damn turn. If you're as good as you say you are then the good storylines and title runs WILL eventually come your way.

I don't care what people have to say about Miz's WWE title run, I'm glad it happened simply because I know it burned up Punk inside to see someone he views as inferior, get to main-even Wrestlemania before him.....as champion......against Cena.....and WIN :lolbron:

Punk put in 2 MOTYC in 1 year. Miz hasn't even done one in his career. :birdman:

For Punk speaking on Stephanie's sex life: See Bryan saying "when you lay with trash" and implying she's a bytch.

For a hard working cat being ostracized over his look: See Punk's promo in Las Vegas. He was pissed off that all his hard work was being ignored, partly because he didn't look like John Cena and partly because the higher-ups were prejudiced against him.

It's the exact same storyline, just tailored to fit Bryan going up against a Corporate entity like Austin did back in the day.

Bryan said that but he didn't say it every week like Punk did. He brought it up when he got shafted..not for comedy or playing around. There wasn't no smirk on his face..he was serious as fukk. Like I said last night, Cena came out smiling after losing the belt and happy as a motherfukker that fans were booing him while Bryan was dejected and looked sick to his stomach. Two DIFFERENT type of performers...Punk is highly trained in the Bryan mold but he does out of ward shyt like last night with the fat guy and weird shyt like that distracted from his entire angle.

Punk wasn't pissed off that his hard work was being ignored..he was basically crying that about Miz being champion, about the WM 28 main event, and just going off on tangents in a way that fans got behind at the time. In the end, the only change he cared about was his paycheck getting higher and him going over the roster during that long reign. That was the dead end reality of it.

So it's not the same storyline...Bryan was actually fired and came back by popular demand. His points have just as much realism as anything you bought into back in 2011. Especially with hardcore fans ALWAYS knowing that McMahon loves big guys and guys that look like Orton and Cena to fit his title molds of pushed stars.

They couldn't do it two years ago because the pieces weren't in place like they are now. You can tell what they are doing with D-Bry is reconciliation for the clusterfukk of the momentum with CM Punk two years ago. Del Rio did cash in that night of Summer Slam but it had no real effect. It would just seem like the McMahons hand picking the current top heel and putting him out there when no one cares. Plus Punk didn't guarantee anything with staying with the company so its hard to really work him into a long term story.

Now with D-Bry we watched him subliminally feud with Orton over the weak link storyline......they also probably have some low key heat over Bryan catching the stinger against him at one point. Then you look at how Orton was begging to turn heel via social media. Cena has been fukked up for a while and knew he could only go but so long. Then you see how crowds are going crazy for D-Bry, especially how the E has shunned him repeatedly . Now you have someone who can move merchandise while John boy heals up. You basically book the Indy circuit god vs. The hand picked entertainer. Then you add in HHH and Orton's history and the rest writes itself. Plus keep in mind during the Yes movement post WM28, HHH was the one who felt a Yes! T-shirt wouldn't sell like other merchandise.

The thesis is Punk shook things up two years ago in order to pave the way for Bryan to have that opportunity. whether ya'll want to admit it or not he gave them a reason to believe in Indy guys. This year they are just realizing how much they can capitalize off them.
