Terrible album.

And The Score was carried by singles
Family business is one of the best songs on the album and it wasn’t a single. Also “cowboys” wasn’t a single either though it had a video. But at the same time saying it was carried by singles isn’t saying much since there were 4 singles lol. Thats a 3rd of the songs on the album. Like the lost boys debut. There were 6 singles and 7 videos from that album.

You could tell they were talented but it was a weird direction they took. Too low key and forgettable for 1994. Just did a little reading, and they actually recorded it in 92, which makes sense - they were probably aiming for a Native Tongues style. Even so, its an underwhelming album besides a few standout tracks. Would have been great if they were able to make more records.

Juvenile Hell is way better. I can actually listen to that whole album front to back, it was just that Mobb Deep's next album was such a huge step up by comparison.

Trash

Were signed when Onyx was big, as were many other acts and you can hear the record company suggested "yelling" and Fredro Starr imitations.

No famous guest appearances, rappers that NOBODY had ever heard of, not cosigned by any name artist , trash songs, weird logo

There was no hook for people to buy it.

All this.

If they woulda dropped before Onyx and The Chronic, they prolly woulda been alright.
I wasn't trying to hear no song called "Boof Baf".

The real question is: Why in the F people act like The Score is such da bomb?
But at least it had hooks.

This. There's also "Zealots" and "How Many Mics".

And technically all albums are carried by singles.

Life After Death has more than twice the songs as The Score. There are non-singles on that album that are just dope as the singles.

The non singles of LAD shyt on the non singles of the score. Just like almost every classic album of that era.

There’s no Kick In the Door, nikkaz Bleed, My Downfall 10 Crack commandments on the Score.

That's subjective. I could say Illmatic isn't a classic because there isn't a "Ain't No Fun", "Tha Shiznit", "Lodi Dodi" etc. I would be wrong for saying it isn't a classic.

I feel like this album, Naughty By Nature's album Independent Leaders and Mobb Deep's Juvenile Hell are the most "Wait...that's their debut???" albums of all-time

A lot of people don't remember Usher's first album either and think My Way was his first album.

Some say that with Common Can I Borrow A Dollar to

This is said by people who were toys when cibad dropped.

Cibad,.. take it easy was number one on video shows for a while.
Breaker 1/9 although a remix that common goes super saiyan on. Decades before I even knew wtf dragon ball was.

which is strange because "can you get with it" is one of Usher's best song's ever.

"Think of you" was my shyt

but honestly that first record sounded like a Jodeci record so he really didn't blow until he got with Jermaine Dupri.

"Can you get with it" wasn't really age appropirate for a young Usher.
