Yeah, my understanding was Rakim said in an interview Freddie wasn't vicious on the mic. And he took offence. There's more to it than this though so hopefully more people drop info...

on or off wax, i'd side with cormega. i don't believe for a second that rakim was scared to battle foxxx either. dude has never been that special to me at all. i checked out some of his older and unreleased albums, but i don't get the hype. he's average. i think he's more known for knocking dudes out, than anything music related. maybe with the exception of his verse on the militia?
