Because it was a different sound, a stark departure from the music being made by artists on both coasts, and there was something subversive about the whole Dipset movement that white hipsters found mysteriously alluring. There was also the fashion angle, the swag of their dress that many people across the nation began copying. Dipset's movement, on a cultural level, is extremely underappreciated.

The same reason you see Cacs with Wu Tang / 2Pac tatts but started listening to rap in 2010. To seem like you're "real" and not a poser by investing in not too mainstream legends. Very Ironic creatures these hipster cacs :jbhmm::francis:
facts

I love when style mags run up on cacs wearing wu-tang t-shirts and they start copping pleas on not knowing the music :laff:

matter fact that's how you brehs with metal band t-s look right now :umad:

Cam'ron is a style icon even today.

Also that shyt is throwback hip-hop to 20-25 year olds.
It’s throwback to me because I was banging this shyt when I was like 9 or so whenever it came out. The production is throwback for me because we don’t get too many sampled high pitch voices on beats anymore.

They were the anti-thesis of Nas/Jay and biggin up black love, growth, and knowledge. They catered to the ignant fabric back then of urban society and white people love to see that. Just like it's no coincidence that Em "fell off" right around that time Stillmatic and The Fix dropped. Black awareness had come back and Kanye capitalized on it with his 1st 2 lps
This ain’t all true.
