AND ONLY 12% WERE FROM THE THREE.

IN SIX SEASONS WITH NY
22% OF HIS SHOT ATTEMPTS WERE WITHIN 3 FEET OF THE BASKET

you do realize carmelo leads the league in mid range jumpshots attempted in the league right now, right?
the entire league has shifted to 3 point shooting in that time period too...also like someone else said..his coach when he got to new york was dantoni...so you know how that goes. 3s, 3s, 3s.
also...he doesnt have the first step he used to have....so he takes the easier route of just shooting...instead of using the triple threat to drive like he used to. he cant get by people anymore....and he knows he cant.....when he does drive he doesnt have the explosion to go over the top or eat the contact and finish.

he physically cant attack the rim effectively anymore...and he knows it.
in denver... he'd get the ball by the wings on the 3 point line....lul the defender to sleep...dribble into the mid post...or he'd start out in the triple threat.
he gets the ball in to same spots...but he cant blow by off that first step...and he cant eat contact like denver melo could.
