Why did Dontrelle Willis fall apart?

I didn't follow his career once he went to Detroit. For those who may not remember, Dontrelle took the NL by storm when he was on the Marlins. He won Rookie of the Year.. Marlins won the World Series.. In D-train's 3rd year he won 22 games with a 2.6 ERA and I believe finished 2nd in the Cy Young voting. He was a great athlete. Not a bad hitter either.

So what happened once he went to Detroit? In a few short years he goes from phenom to terrible and eventually out of the majors by age 29.

Horrible mechanics and not great stuff. Control issues too. I remember seeing him the 1st season as a Marlin tho, dude was electric with that crazy pitching motion back then.
