Why did Ford change the escape to a fruity looking soccer cruiser?

The Escape was never really manly. What happened to the Explorer is worse.

I can see why they switched the game on the Explorer but I dont even view it as a truck anymore. It's probably a better overall vehicle and obviously a great value but they didnt even try to pretend like it had some kind of lineage to previous Explorers. Still, if I had a need for a vehicle of that size (family, etc) I'd consider it and do my best to make look official with the wheels, trim, paint color, etc

Body-on-frame/truck based SUVs peaked in the 90's & early 00's... Now it looks like most makers are going the crossover route.

I was :dead: at the new Cherokee... FWD based? Really Jeep? :wtf: It's like when Jordan came back to play for the Wizards

IMO the GOAT truck based SUV

It's crazy
I was googling to see if the escape is finally going back to their old look and it led me here.
I got an 02 with close to 195k miles, no issues
The 2010 version is ideal for me, I'm gonna try and get that
I wish they eventually go back to their roots
I'm not into those big suvs but I do need the space
All these new shyts be cutting the back diagonally
I need that space
My sister got the new equinox and it's much larger on the outside but the inside is tiny

Yeah. That's the last year that I would get it. Sometimes I want the 2010 because that's the last time they really did any upgrades and would probably cost less than the 2012 but then the 2012 has 2 years less wear and tear on the body and parts

I bought a security shade for the rear hatch and some aries floor liners. I may get a few more things but its good for now. They actually had a raptor style grill for it, but I saw it was discontinued by the after market company due to licensing.

My dad's 06 xlt has a much better stereo in terms of sound due to the sub. Thats one thing I could see me upgrading later on, although I've gotten used to it now. The older model feels more connected to the road, stiffer ride than the model I have. I got used to the difference now tho.

These are the liners, they look pretty nice installed. Car had no mats when I got it so, I just bought these. Much less expensive than the weather techs. I also got a Husky liner for the hatch.

Yeah. I need some liners now but I've been low on cash. I'm not sure about the newer models but the older ones had a mach system upgrade. That's probably what your dad has. I've been wanting time get a stealth box. Mtx makes them.

I've done a few things to mine.
The car was originally 2 toned but I painted the bottom to make it all black
Put a grille guard
I'd love 1 on the back to prevent further damage to the paint on the back tho
I put the 05-07 headlights
Changed the radio

How much you paid for yours?

Yes, he has the audiophile upgrade. I may get the mtx box and a full setup from my boy's shop. I was looking through Crutchfield for setups. My vehicle was 12k, bought it from the local Ford dealership where my dad takes his for service and the service manager he knows checked it out fully for us. If I had more time, I could have bought one from the auction since I have access through a friend but I needed a car asap x 10. If I had more time, it would had been about 6 grand max from the auction.

Looks clean. Same as mine exterior wise, flex fuel v6, color and rims. I actually prefer your interior, mine is camel/cloth, which I hated initially but its grown on me, but that looks better. Hope it runs well for you.

Yeah, a few of the "rugged" 90s SUVs went bytch. Along with the Pathfinder, the Ford Explorer did too. I don't even acknowledge the 5th gens as an Explorer

And truth be told OP, the Escape been a bytch SUV too. All those smaller SUVs :camby:to me

Never could fukks with em man. I went to the dealership a few months ago and the salesman showed me one and similar small SUVs. I was like nahhhh. The 2010 Eddie Bauer Explorer I drove was nice tho.

When I owned my 96 Explorer I was heavy on the Serious Explorations forum, and the mods were like "please keep the comments about the 5th Gens to yourself" or something to that effect lol. I will say they drive nice and all, but they're just a bigger Edge. There's nothing drastic enough looks wise to pull me in

What a difference a couple years makes:mjgrin:

In the summer I was driving a 2016 Explorer for work for a few weeks. I WOULD buy one now lol. My pops was renting one and he was raving about the recent Explorers being the best vehicle he's driven
