The real answer is the period between 1924 and 1965. Americans of Western European (and Protestant) descent turned on non wasps, passed immigration act of 1924 to reduce amount of non desirable immigrants. Said that the jews, italians,irish,etc weren't assimilating into mainstream American culture because of flood of people from their nationalities/cultures into the country.

Without new countrymen coming in, the assimilation process was sped up for the white ethnics that were here. They intermarried more and blended more into white mainstream society........switched religions, anglicized names,etc

When the Civil Right Bills passed, and discrimination was made illegal technically, they took advantage of new education and occupation opportunities previously blocked to them.....and fully integrated into mainstream white American culture.

Imma say this one more time. Germany is as white as white gets. They're in the center of fukkin Europe. King Otto and the Holy Roman Empire (GERMANY) was one of the top five empires in European history. The Irish and the Scottish are probably "whiter" than most white people since their breeding pool was constricted to people from the British Isles. There's a whole body of water between them and any other groups. Outside of the Greeks, the Italians gave the most to Western Civilization. The Roman Empire dominated the entire ancient world and after the Dark Ages it was the Italian City States that led the Renaissance. How could Italians not be white when Europe would almost not be shyt without them. The idea that Germans, Italians and Irish aren't white is dumb. Puritans moved to America in the 1700s and had a face towards any white person who wasn't a White Anglo Saxon Protestant and couldn't trace their history back to the Mayflower. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THESE WHITE ASS PEOPLE WERE NOT WHITE. That's like saying Jamaicans, Haitians and Nigerians aren't Black because #ADOS Militants have the face towards them because they come from different lands and cultures.
