^Matt Hardy V1 is probably a top two character out of all 4 of the Hardyz and E&C
Cause he simply wasn’t better than a bunch of the top guys during that period. He wasn’t better than Rock, Austin, Triple H, Mankind, Taker, Kane, nor Angle. Had it not been for the Brand Extention, a LOT of guys wouldn’t have nearly the amount of titles they had.

Edge was gifted a fire rivalry with Cena, amidst the whole cheating scandal with Lita being an absolute heat magnet for him. After that it was apparent Christian was better. But his pushes (when they came) always got derailed by concussions.
Even to this day, Christian is better in the ring, better on the mic, and just has a more natural presence on the camera.
Anyone remembering Edge more fondly is a victim of the tremendous booking Edge received.

This. Christian is the one that actually started developing a personality before Edge. This should’ve been one of the first posts in this thread to eliminate the previous raggedy ones.
Edge had no gimmick/character/anything interesting about him until the Matt Hardy feud yet WWE still positioned him as a future main eventer. Getting injured in early 03 was a blessing in disguise because the crowd would’ve saw him for what he was a lot sooner (A tall white guy with long hair that VKM has a fetish for). He got booed in Toronto so badly at Summerslam 04 that the E had no choice but to turn him heel. And even then nobody gave a solitary fukk about him till he cucked Matty Janetty.
Christian on the other hand was forced into stupid gimmicks like The Un-Americans and the temper tantrum gimmick and made the most out of it. He carried the un-americans on the mic and also shined whenever he and Jericho had their alliance and eventual feud. Whenever he became Captain Charisma around Late 04 you saw the main eventer he was definitely capable of being but VKM just didn’t believe in him. So he went to TNA and became Christian Cage (A run that absolutely shyts on anything Edge has ever done)

Edge had to do some all time scumbag real life shyt to actually get over. They had been pushing this mofo for like 3 years and he could never break through as a main eventer until he did that dirtbag shyt

But on topic, I've actually bought into Edge more as a main eventer the past 3-4 years than ever before. Always felt he was too skinny, and wasn't built like a typical heavyweight main eventer.

Edge spear is one of the most overrated moves ever. I get it you're not supposed to injure a guy like Goldberg does, but many wrestlers did the spear better, like Rhyno, Lashley, etc.
Edge just runs out there, hugs his opponent and gently slams him. I'm supposed to believe this move has landed him so many victories? Nah...
