i seen an interview once where alc was saying the "We gonna make it beat" could have been jays at one point

Word?! Nas also turned down that beat :noah:

Yeah the timing adds up. I listen to that Infamous Mobb Special Edition album and think that a lot of those ALC beats could've been on Blueprint.

When ALC used the Soon You'll Understand sample for Hold You Down in 04, Jay did tell him that he liked the song and thought the beat was hot.

Thanks for telling me that. I know a lot of crazy producer stories, but I had no idea Jay could've had that one. I know Jay-Z turned down some Just Blaze classics. Pump It Up and was pissed later on that he missed out so he did the freestyle on there. He also turned down Roc The Mic. I believe he turned down Oh Boy.

Could be his "living proof," not quite but....back to bink! lost boys originally put him on back in the day. this was his first placement and canibus' first verse to come out(i think?), it also got quotable of the month...

Preem no showed a Black Album session and 9th Wonder ended up getting the street joint instead.

It's like I said in my last post in this thread, Jay is just weird like that. He gets around certain people, maybe he'll do one song, and then decide to stick with them for a lot of songs (Sean C and LV for AG). I mean some of it is scheduling. he records so fast. If you're not around in the week or two where he's recording you missed out. Or once again, maybe you play the best beat ever, but it's not what he wants that day.

So much luck involved with getting a track on a Jay-Z album.

I've always wanted him to work with Alchemist. Around the time of The Blueprint recording when ALC was really getting super tight with Mobb Deep Jay and Al ran into each other and Jay told him, "You're playing for the wrong team." Alchemist and BINK were on that soul sound before Kanye and Just actually.
I thought the story was Prem gave him a beat CD and Hov turned down all the beats? shyt i think I even remember Prem admitted this in a interview. i could be wrong though.

Yeah I could be wrong. I know Hov turned down beats for American Gangster from Preem. Namely the beat that would become Society is Brainwashed by Ill Bill. 9th would have gotten a call regardless. That's its own story.

Yeah I think Special Edition was the Living Proof of the 00's decade, because Havoc and Muggs also laced the hell out of that album too.

Honestly in early 2000s I felt that Bink was just as good as Just Blaze and Kanye but than they blew up and started putting in work everywhere. Bink kind of fell of the radar. I don't know if it's his fault or some kind of industry fukk up or black ball(?).

He is one of the most underated producer of the heavy beat/ soulful sound era. Many wit Freeway as others said, Jay & Puff, including this classic....

Sean C and LV produced for AG cause Puff was exec producer and they were the new hitmen.
