snoop to this day talks about not getting the money from his music and why he keeps recording tours pop outs brand deals

There has to be a background story on the DP1 song and its ownership. For it never to be on streaming and also for him to release a video for his debut album, but then go and record new vocals for the actual album doesn't make much sense.
The timing of this also makes me curious if the ownership changed on the 30th anniversary of the CD single's release and now they have the rights to do what they want with the track.

i always figured cause maybe he wanted to give a fresh(er) version, so he laid down new vocals.

The opposite happens where the video version is some whole ass other song, then when you cop the album it's the "original" and not the single version.

The OG version was only supposed to be a promo single. By the time RD dropped, it was one of the oldest songs they recorded for the album. That was done in '95. It was already on mixtapes and bootlegged all over NYC.

So he went back in to freshen it up, so that you got a new version of the joint only available on the album.

That makes sense. Do you have any idea why it took exactly 30 years from the release date for it to be on streaming services? I just figured he didn't have complete ownership of the song and some other party was blocking it from doing so.
