I think he left jordan brand/Nike because of Lebron’s success and power over there. Lets be honest lebron james is like his idol jay-z. Probably Taking up all the resources and dont let their shoe come out with a dope design that Mav or rich get a look at 1st then it all of sudden becomes the Lebron 16 instead of the kawhi 1

Im a marketing major. There's the unspoken "Cool" factor u have to weigh in too (and cacs have made if quantifiable now). PG is a lean, tall, swaggy lookin brotha that creampies bad pawgs and dresses fresh to def. His personality is a still a dud but trust me, any play-yard u go to today the kids will choose him over Klaw (as of pre-Raptors Finals). Kawhi is respected by the real hoopers but he's more unseen than PG13.

PG13 has a more streetball friendly game that youngns want to duplicate.

kawhi isn't as flashy, plays prison ball, and does things that cant really be duplicated by the average cat at the park.

but yea, now that he has the raptors in the finals, I think the odds are gonna even up a bit.

correct me if I am wrong, but from what I remember...no one was sure about Kawhi's injury and he was out most of the year and they wanted more than NIKE wanted to give him given that they didnt know his medical status. basically NIKE was saying we cant give you x-amount and you arent even playing to market the brand and like you guys say, if he isnt playing his personality isnt enough to carry the brand off court. they rejected the offer NIKE had on the table.

now if that was today, NIKE would give Kawhi what he wants pretty much because his talent transcends his personality

Because Nike know they couldn't make him the face of the brand but he's a good name to have under their flag. Nike is the best at marketing when it comes to apparel and they didn't think they could sell him which says a lot
