Ja was on the way out as soon as 50 cent dropped get rich or die trying and interscope loaded up the machine...

Clap back was ill
The ny record was ill
The joint with ashanti did well chartwise

It was simply 50 cent who took him outta here...

Nelly made no mistakes..he sold his millions of records and make multiple hits...his time came and his time went..
Nah, Ja was considered a sellout before 50 cent blew up. With every album after Rule 3:36, Ja promised to return to his roots and make hardcore records again, only to turn around and released more records full of cookie cutter pop songs. When he finally released Blood in my eyes, nobody cared anymore, because nobody believed in his gangsta anymore. People stopped taking him seriously, when he called into that radio station and threatened to bring tupac back :pachaha:
And that was when he was beefing with DMX.

50s camapign against murder inc was only as successful as it was, because people had already grown tired of them.

Lets be honest...the American public are easily swayed by persuasive marketing tactics...
Interscope spent millions to market 50 as humanly gangsta as possible..whoever 50 chose as his target was gonna get their ticket out of rap....

Ja was on borrowed time as soon as wanksta hit the radio

Even jay was laying low...

The whole industry pretty much turned on ja out of fear and not to get on 50s bad side....

Im not saying ja was at his peak because he was in a steady decline..

But the public's mind was already made up

STL isn’t a NYC, ATL, LA etc obviously

they had a great run for a smaller major city. Had nearly a decade long run

I always thought Chingy could’ve been T.I status under the right conditions.

Yeah STL was definitely on some “the little city that could” status in the 2Ks for Hip Hop. They didn’t stop there either, they gave us Metro Boomin’ for the 10’s too :blessed:

S/O to The Lou for blessing us with some good shyt back in the day and giving us the greatest producer in Trap music history :salute:

Gon’ leave this here for old times sake

I wouldn't say he fell off. He just had his time to shine like any other artist and now it's someone else's turn

Jay z doesn't get enough credit for his longevity:wow:. Most black artist have 5 years, if that, at the top
Jay has been able to maintain relevancy for 20 plus years:wow:

Hate him or love him but I have the feeling, drake will have similar longevity as well. He's been killing it since 2010 and isn't slowing down

I think he would have been successful regardless but I think him marrying Beyonce extended his music career alot.

That doesn't change the fact that they fell off and lost artistic relevance quick :yeshrug:, while artists that struck a better balance such as Nas or Jay can also tour and make money of royalties while still being (somewhat) relevant.
Nelly was getting plaques for 10 years. How is that quick?

He made the same mistake ja rule made, yes. He had a hit and then he discovered a comercial formula, took it and ran with it. That turned him into a pop phenomenon for a short amount of time, but also meant that his core audience turned it's back on him, so he got played out quick :yeshrug:
Artists with longevity a) manage to reinvent themselves throughout their career and b) strike a balance between artistic integrity and mainstream appeal (Back in those days, you would have the street record and the radio record. Both Ja Rule and Nelly released lots of successful radio records and neglected the street records, making hiphop fans look at them as soft or pop).

he was relevant for far longer than either ja rule or nelly, and he is more relevant than them today :yeshrug:

Nas hasn’t been relevant since Gods son
