Why did Nelly fall off so hard?

He came out in 2000 and had plenty of platinum and gold albums up until like 2008 or 2009. He actually had a good run.
He took off that band-aid.
Nelly's a legend. He fathered all these new autotuned, singing and calling it rapping, soundcloud bamas styles.

Nelly had a run and 2 dope albums.. mostly melodic club music, some classics. nikkas always trying to take shots because its not some “street” or backpack rapping bullshyt. They stay in their lanes and stayed on the charts.
Nellyville is a terrible album. It had some huge hits but it’s an awful body of work
he has 1 good album.

I was surprised at how long it took lil wayne to fall off. I was done with him after the hot boyz bling bling era.
That might have been Nelly's problem. People like Eminem, Jay and Wayne, after their intitial runs, hopped on the bandwagon of newer popular rappers(Kanye, Drake, 50 Cent) and were able to extend their relevance. If Murphy Lee or somebody had blown up, Nelly would've lasted longer.

No grillz was a big hit in 2006
Despite how you feel, Drake is a far superior talent than Nelly which is why he has persevered so long. Nelly only has one solid record in his discography. Nellyville and sweat suit were fukking trash
From his 2005 album, but same difference. People had moved on by then. Paul Wall was bigger than Nelly on that record...
