I'm happy to see Magic Johnson alive and well, but I always assumed that his wealth gave him access to medicine and treatment that 99% of people don't have.

Not diminishing the challenge but its not as cost prohibitive as it was during Magic's time. Truvada which is now being advertised on TV is one of those PReP drugs I was talking about that if you take it early enough in the disease you can get your infection level so low you can be non-transmittal. If you have health insurance and some cash you should be able to get the drugs. But I know a lot of people in poverty struggle with just that.

That's basically the world of a gay man. That's why there is so much more HIV in that community. I'm sure stigma etc plays some role but most likely it's just that all men are biologically wired to be promiscuous.

That and a lot engage in a sex act where you're literally putting tears in a mucus membrane in the rectum and then exposing it to infected semen. Not to be graphic

This is why female to male transmission rates are so low, compared to vice versa and why gay anal sex and IV drug use leads to higher transmission rates
