I'm not dismissing the drugs/alc angle, but I think a lot of it is also technique. His interviews still sound like the same ol' P, he's just hitting a different octave when he rhymes.

SPs is probably due to cleaning his lifestyle up. On the flip Dave Chappelle sounds like he gargles rocks now compared to his original, higher pitched and more animated voice.

They then were using Apex (I think) who made the I get money beat for 50 (the nikka apex is a sound engineer who produced one smash hit) and now they onto Journey and them from Roc nation, whoever kiss is plugged into is doing the whole team (I think, can find out)

DMX had a strong, heavy, huffiness to his voice from IDAHIH to Great Depression, Grand Champ is when it started to sound more strained and lighter compared to earlier

Same with Sean Price, Prime Monkey Bars/Jesus Price Superstar Ruck had that super confident, smooth, voice and with just the right touchof griminess, and his voice became more strained like he was struggling to breathe

I've been to Juices 4 Life in the BX haha it was dope, I was way out there solo, just wandering around, but I did not see Kiss or Styles

but his voice change turned me away from his music in the last decade or more.

Guys like ghostface and Kiss, their voices are just shot. That’s just all age, and years of smoking and drinking
