don't forget the wardrobes, even if they didn't wear the chit.

but what kind of cameras were they using back then that can't capture that same quality today?? It's like the HD cams we got today gives it a different look than it was back then... it's been eating at me for a while trying to figure this out
They were using hundred thousand dollar cinema cameras.
Not Canon 5Ds
is there a camera out today that is equivalent to that? would you say the RED camera does that?
Red cameras are great but they dont compare to cinema cameras and lenses.
Some of these cinema lenses go for over 100gs.
These are pretty good too but still expensive.
ARRI Group: ALEXA
Is there anything else besides the camera that gives that professional look? Like lighting or something lie that?

They were actually shooting music videos with film and that is why they had that lush look. Its the cameras, filter, and lighting. Im pretty surw if you searched long and hard enough you could replicate this style by finding vintage cameras from that era on ebay.
And the dinners that they had with label execs making them feel special.don't forget the wardrobes, even if they didn't wear the chit.
I think it's the transition from film to digital,
