To be honest I don't recall no discussions about the GOAT in 96 cuz the acronym wasn't even created til 2000 when LL said it.I know pac wasnt called no goat cuz I remember nikkas sayin biggie and nas>>>pac in 95.

Back then Kane,Rakim or LL were considered the best mc's of all time

The entire enterprise to be called goat is a direct response from Jay and Nas to the status that was assigned to Pac and Biggie when they died. Jay-z has been doing everything in his power to create criteria that are beneficial to his accomplishments, whereas the status assigned to Pac and Biggie just came naturally from the love they got for their work. Jay and Nas have been trying to make cases for their belonging up there with them because they feel entitled to it because they have been in the game for so long. Neither of them was ever as loved as Pac and Biggie were for their work though..

Do you not understand why Tupac's legacy remains strong and has continue to grow in mythical status? It's because the man had substance to his character, he was enigmatic - multi-dimensional and amazing songwriter that was able to connect to an wide-audience and offer a consistency of quality that would rival The Beatles.
