Why did Tyson Wheeler never make it in the NBA?

That last year or two at Rhode Island they were pretty good, and he had good stats considering he played with two scorers in Lamar Odom and Cuttino Mobley.

Always thought he was as good as or better than alot of other PGs in college back then.....at least good enough to last in the NBA a few years. Dude played ONE nba game and got cut :wow:ONE!:damn:

But I was younger so maybe it's just nostalgia.

Undersized, wasn't he? I loved that Rhode Island team, and it was painful to watch them collapse against Stanford. Wheeler was shortarming the fukk out of his free throws down the stretch, I wanted to turn the game off.

probably a bit undersized, I think he was 5'10. But I thought he was good enough.

And yeah, I dont remember the game vividly, but I do recall them completely pissing the bed.

Has RI ever even been relevant since?

It was so bad, b. and I hated that Stanford team. What was it, an 8 point lead blown over the final minute? I might have to hunt down the footage.

Couldn't find the full collapse, but even the final 30 seconds are powerful. I forgot Wheeler had 3 free throws to tie. Man, as soon as he got fouled you could see he had no chance of making them.

Thank goodness for videotape. Otherwise, Stanford might never know how it pulled off a stunning 79-77 victory over Rhode Island in the final of the Midwest Regional of the National Collegiate Athletic Association tournament at the Kiel Center this afternoon.

That video might also help the game officials determine if some of the fouls they did and did not call in the last two minutes of the game were correct. And it might help clear up Stanford guard Arthur Lee's faulty memory, because he does not remember making the choke sign twice when Rams guard Tyson Wheeler missed three free throws that would have tied the score with five seconds to play.

Trailing by 71-65 with 59.3 seconds to play, third-seeded Stanford (30-4) went from heartbreak to elation. Stanford will go to its first Final Four since the team won the national championship in 1942. The Cardinal will play Kentucky, the South Regional champion, Saturday in San Antonio.

Nah, I don't want to see it. My pops and uncles are STILL mad about that shyt. That moment right there is why UConn lapped up these other other schools in New England in basketball. I swear every elite prospect coming up looks at those dudes like :beli:. URI had to resort to recruiting people like ZACK Marbury :wow:
