Why did WWE never do Hogan/Austin?

Rock/Hogan was magical but why did they give that spot to Rock instead of Austin? Wouldn't that have been an even bigger match? WWE had to have known they were on borrowed time with Austin, they should have done that match ASAP. Unless the thought of Rock leaving for Hollywood weighed more on them so they went that route thinking they had the year after for Austin/Hogan (and a longer build up).

Idk...it's just hard to imagine WWE had Austin/Hogan on the same roster and never did anything with it. (Not like Austin-Goldberg when Goldberg waited to sign with WWE when Austin was done, yet another missed opportunity.)

Austin recently spoked about this on JR's podcast. He said the match would not be any good. He knew there would be a lot of money in it, but the quality of the match wouldn't be that great.
