Austin recently spoked about this on JR's podcast. He said the match would not be any good. He knew there would be a lot of money in it, but the quality of the match wouldn't be that great.
True Great workers know how to get a classic out of anything. Rock and Hogan was no technical masterpiece, but they were both masters of psychology and could get a reaction simply out of looking at the crowd. That is part of the art of wrestling...it's a work. in the end it worked out better than anything Austin/Hogan could have done. Austin wasn't about to sell for Hogan like Rock did

He's flip flopping on that though, because when it came to Punk on Arcsenio he said where there's money on the table you make the money

^ This. He also said that word amongst the boys was that Hogan had trouble doing the job for people, which is well known. It played a factor in making him reluctant, though Austin placed more emphasis on the reason you cited.

Now that I think about it, I do remember the reports that Austin was worried he would get booed in favor of Hogan.

The fans were feenin for Hogan at that point too. He just may have got booed. :ohhh:

If that would of happened Stone Cold would of quit the next day and no showed Raw :mjlol:

austin is good enough JUST like rock to know good and well to double turn DURING the match and do a face hogan vs heel austin program for the next couple months and just PRINT money.

i been hearing this so long but hogan did a shyt load of jobs over his career. austin doesnt like hogan for operating the way he does, and operates the same exact way. but for some reason IWC hates hogan and loves austin. austin was scared hogan would outshine him. he was so used tgo being number 1, his ego couldnt take the hulkster getting the fans

just tryin to bury hogan. austin seems mad isnecure when it coems to the hulkster. and when it comes down to it, looking back on history, the rock is = if not better and he got to face hogan in a classic match that was the REAl main event at WM
:whoa:

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Stone GOAT is Stone GOAT!

But his "the match wouldn't be good" excuse is lame. Who cares? The mere sight of Austin/Hogan in a faceoff would have made the match worth it. Austin does seem to have some type of vendetta with Hogan. Then again, Austin has a lot of excuses for not fighting CM Punk as well. He's a smart man. He knows the mere aura of the match will make it a classic yet he finds reasons not to commit to it. I don't get that about him.

He also said that he heard Hogan wasn't going to "do any favors". So he in turn wasn't either.

Yeah, the more I listen to these podcasts and interviews and what not, the clearer it becomes that just about everyone with a top spot gets a chip on their shoulder and feels the need to protect the shyt out of themselves. Hogan was just the most publicized. Austin isn't really much different. shyt, neither is Cena.

I was listening to Colt's podcast with Mike Bennett and dude told a story where he, in essentially a tryout match did the You Can't See Me taunt. Cena got at him in the back and told him he'd break every finger on his hand if he did it again. Bennett says he went to Cena the next day to apologize and he didn't even act like anything was wrong. Cena also stopped Tyler Reks from doing is doo doo ass version of the Burning Hammer because it resembled the AA. Wrestling, brehs. The shyt IS a competition, just not the competition its portraying.

The real reason is Austin didn't wanna be remembered for a shyt match and know hogan can't work

Hogan was gonna job, but Austin said he can't trust him if I recall correctly

Hogan was the one begging for the match on raw, stone goat kept it moving

Stop the ducktales aka hulktales about Austin brehs

We gonna act like Austin and the rock are in the same shape physically? Austin had to retire and has a damaged neck, carrying grandpa hogan wouldn't be easy.

Who's taking the majority of the bumps in this match?

Austin didn't say on his podcast that bumps for him would be a problem. He said Hogan was one step slower at that point and that's why he didn't want to do the match. Well Rock had no problem in that role, and it wasn't like he took any crazy bumps. That match was very basic in that regard
