everyone secretly hates yelp to be honest
anyone who has worked at yelp in sales knows that it was bound to happen. look up yelp sales representatives on glassdoor and you'll get the idea.

A while back I went to look at reviews on Yelp on my phone.
And it let me view a handful of reviews or pictures, then insisted that I download the app in order to see more.
So that turned me off to that bullshyt. Anything that requires me to download the app for full access gets tossed in the bushes for me.

they give in detail reviews instead of that 3 line Google review shyt. Add in the pics, I'm good to go.
Yep. I still use Yelp though it's a must for me. The pictures of the food tend to be better and more genuine on top of yelp providing a restaurants health score unlike Google reviews

Yelp’s listing algorithm was based on the amount of money the restaurant paid Yelp. They tried to say they were by the book and clearly labeling the ad paid restaurants at the top of the list, but they lowkey weren’t doing that in the beginning.
It was also easy to game the algorithm and tank a restaurant rating before they made an attempt to moderate reviews.
Overall, too much gamification to be an honest review site. And they cared more about getting as much ad money as possible, instead of making a functioning honest product.

I use Yelp on the regular. I like to try new restaurants and the pictures come in handy and are the difference between me ordering or passing.

I was going to drop a bad review on a medical centre, but then thought to myself "Is Yelp even worth the time to register and write a complaint?".
