I see some blacks giving up Christianity and Islam but many of the times its for the reason they are interpreting some half baked propaganda. For the non-believers,did you actually do some soul searching and research before you became an apostate or did you do decide to go off of someones word?

I think becoming non-chritsian and non-muslim is one of the most important transitions one can go through, its very essential one proceeds in this kind of phase with great care.

Lol.

Cuz according to christians i can sin all i want, steal, rob, kill, eat babies, all dat. And as long as i accept jesus into my heart and repent for those sins before i die i'll be accepted into heaven. :francis: hmm. Sounds like some madeup bullshyt to me.:camby:

According to islam i can't listen to music, abuse drugs and alcohol, or fornicate with multiple women. :rudy:I'd rather be an infidel. :camby:

Religion is bullshyt. It may have had its uses back in the stone age. But in 2015 we don't need that shyt and it soon to be left behind.

Imo its fukked up that people still place any meaning/faith in some old ass fiction book about a spanish con man.

I woke up one day and somehow viewed my particular religion from the eyes of an outsider and that was that.

That and I also could no longer play for a losing team whose trump card was always "never mind that, you have to have faith"

After years of basically hearing that I had no choice but to switch allegiances. I didn't want to be part of that irrational group of people that simply blocks all evidence out because of a particular personal belief or conviction grounded upon "faith" aka non evidence

I could no longer disrespect my own intellect like that anymore.

Studying psychology, the history of the world religions and science simply put the final nail in the coffin for religion in my life.

With that being said I consider myself a Buddhist atheist/agnostic. Eastern philosophy in general is far more superior than the popular Abrahamic faiths (because it deals with the human mind and not supernatural sci fi stuff) and would be more beneficial to mankind if more people looked into it.

Out here in my damn drawls
Never gave it a real shot and never will. I mentally checked out when I was about 7-8 and the pastor was up there talking about a cow jumping over a barbed wire fence or some dumb shyt :skip:

I just started taking snacks and books to church until my mother stopped forcing me to go when I was around 10-11

Add to the fact that I didn't get punished or struck by lighting for some of the things I did, I immediately called :duck:

Because i hate organized religion, period.

I was raised Christian, Catholic to be exact, but my mom believe that al churches are churches so she also took us (or made us go with friends) to various other Christian churches like "Church of Christ" and "Baptist" and even "7th day adventists". Went to 'em all. Hated them all. Mainly because i was forced to go. My dad wasn't into church like that so if i didn't wanna go he didn't require me to go.

Personally I preferred the Catholic church environment because you got in, 1 hour service, said your prayers and went the fukk home. Them other Christians... You have to do all kinds of sh!t and they make it so long. You have Bible studies, long ass services, and then have to mingle with the rest of the church members afterwards. You have to do things with the other church members (yeah i know you dont have to but they create the environment that encourages it)

Look i get that they are trying to make you not just be attending the same church but be part of that "community" but I'm not into that sh!t. I get in, say my prayers and go the fukk home.

I went to the Miami Gardens Church of Christ for over 2 fukkin' years. I never wanted to be there. Didn't make a single friend. Not one.

I didn't wanna live my life according to bullshyt. I heard how godly a family member of mine is every single day for a number of
years now. Then I get the 411 on everything that lead to her religious awakening. Lets just say a lot of whore behavior, lying, stealing,
and now a super bug. I love my fam to death, but I can't imagine a scenario in which so much past wickedness just goes "poof".

Well, the bug didn't:francis:

To explore bigger boxes.

Important step but not the destination...but you gotta hit that reset button some how and for many this is how it comes about. I think everybody should be an "atheist" for a year or two before they come full circle just to get some wiggle room to contemplate on real truth.

And while I still have my reservations about some of the people who practice it and wouldn't associate with the label in any way...the bible and the faith is more beautiful to me than it was before I lived within it.

The African Diaspora
took my shahada in 2009.
never looked back since.
i remember after seeing X for the first time i went straight to the library and started to learn about Malcom.
books, interviews. ofcourse it helped that Malcolm was such a intellectual individual and black that i gravitated towards islam.
i gave up on christianity when i read more books.

Pan Africanism
It started contradicting itself Christianity that is, so I left it alone. I do believe that Jesus existed and a higher power, but I'm confused at the moments. Not an Atheist though.
