There's 4 tiers of rap stars imo

Global Stars (Huge world wide fan base, considered Icons universally) : Pac, Big, Jay, Eminem, Nas, Dre, Kanye, etc.
Mega Stars (Had a HUGE run on top as the biggest rapper but never sustained it or haven't yet like the global stars): Drake, Wayne, 50, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, DMX etc..
Big names (Everyone knows them, sell records, have tons of hits, but never quite "ran the game"): T.I., Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Fabolous, etc..
Well known (Highly respected by their peers, have sold records, have hits, but just a notch below a household name): Cam'ron, Pusha T, Ghostface Killah, Meek Mill, etc..
T.I. was a Mega Star in his prime JMO

I fukks with T.I. but I don't think he was ever the biggest rapper in the game, the closest was when "What You Know About" came out, and that was the biggest song but I don't think he was the biggest star. Kanye and Jay were

T.I. was pretty close in 08 tbh but Wayne was big as hell that year but I saw you put Luda in with Mega Stars and I thought T.I. deserved to be a Mega Star too

Well Ludacris has two albums that went 3x platinum, and 2 albums that went 2x platinum. T.I. only been double platinum once. Ludacris also had the highest selling rap album in 2001 (Not counting 2Pac), I think him and Ja were the biggest artists during that period. Jay was close though. I'd put Luda's peak higher than T.i.'s

Luda benefited from the early 00's generation sales wise , T.I.'s 2008 year was bigger than any year Luda had tbh

No lie, I remember arguing with dudes who claimed Ghetto Fabolous was better than The Blueprint. That's how strong Fabs movement was at that time.

On what planet didn't he blow up?

Only in hip-hop is there the idea that if you don't sell 20 million then you're a failure.

Not reading the whole thread but he never dropped his "cool" and let people in. He never had (single wise) a "song cry", or a DMX crying on stage, or even a Kanye interview outburst. Who is he? Even his hit "girl songs" are generic

:comeon:

anyway, fab is a great rapper but shyt like Holla Back, cant deny it, trade it all and that lil mo shiet don't stand the test of time. in fact, they're a couple of bars away from being cringeworthy.

if he had more radio singles like Lights out, Breathe instead of make me better and throw it in the bag :scusthov:, it would've benefited him more in the long run.

You need songs like this to hit the charts and sell singles/albums.........female purchasing power is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge! They buy songs and go to concerts......along with their friends and boyfriends etc....

It's a proven formula that propelled Wale, broke JCole as a rapper, solidified Drake and served LL for over 20 years.
