Why didn't Jay Z diss LL Cool J on Takeover?

In the early 90s Jay used to follow LL around to different clubs like a groupie and rap battle him, supposedly Jay held his own but LL was like towards Jay.

In 2001 Jay was a bigger star in Hip Hop than LL, he dissed Nas and Mobb Deep on this track because he thought they was , he also planned to diss Ja Rule and some other rapper on Takeover but decided not too.

It would have been the perfect opportunity to try and end LL's Hip Hop career, keep in mind most Hip Hop heads thought he lost the battle to canibus.

His uncle also hated on him back in the day and yet he still talked about it on BP3 and at the last Barclay Center concert.

He threw a shot at LL at that concert too, he said something along the lines of "my uncle said you'll never be better than LL Cool J" and Jay looked at the crowd with some kind of variation between the and face, implying he was better a rapper than LL Cool J.
