LL didn't start dissing Jay till he became the President of Def Jam, LL was insulted and felt he built Def Jam and if "rapper" should be running it...it should be him. Then when it came time for LL to drop an album he felt like Jay wasn't checking for it (which I could understand

Yep, the Jay Z - LL situation reminds me of Nas & Biggie, two NYC Hip Hop legends that threw subs at each other but it never escalated to a full blown battle.

The original story is the correct one. Jay used to approach LL in an attempt to get on and/or battle, and LL looked at him as a nuisance.
