How many rap artists have started their careers with their first single being a No. 1 hit? :dwillhuh:

The chorus is dumb, but that's why the song topped the charts. Dude wasn't super lyrical by any stretch of the imagination, but you gotta appreciate sampling "Shook Ones II," "Nothin' But A G Thang" and "Jesus Walks."

Dude had three decent singles on there (one at No. 1, one at No. 32, one in the 60s on Billboard charts).

He moved 78k first week, which was respectable for a debut, even back in 2006/2007 when albums sold more.

Then he dropped his next album and nothing happened, nobody supported.

What happened?

I'm just asking this, so I don't want anyone catching feelings, but New York, or any city, is supposed to get behind an artist because they have a hit record?

we gonna act like anyone couldnt have blew off that beat :heh:

no disrespect cuz he was the one who crafted the song. but that beat n hook was a great radio track so he was gonna buzz regardless, but after that he had nothin to say

Uh, yeah. You support your hometown

See here's where I disagree: If the hometown as a whole isn't really behind the artist then I don't feel you need to support it. Wale doesn't get a lot of love around these parts, not to say he gets NO love but does he get a lot? Nah, and it's because a lot of cats down here don't feel him like that. I was in Queens when Mims was doing his thing and no one was really feeling him like that. So even if its successful, you still have to feel the music and feel the product. I'm not going to support someone just because their drivers license has the same state mine does. If I don't like the product then I don't like the product. I don't wish Wale any ill will nor did I or anyone I knew in NYC at the time wish Mims any ill will, but if I'm not feeling it, I'm not going to like it just because
