2005 set the pace for the declining in Hip-Hop but 2007 was truly one of the worst years for the culture.

2007 IS the worst year in Hip Hop culture. c00nery was in full effect 100%. c00nery is in the game now, but its at 70%. We still didn't fully recover from that shyt yet.

Ppl weren't feeling him like many mentioned, and Jay Z kinda shytted on him on the radio for saying I can make a mil saying nothin on the track

Can we have more info on this. Never heard about Jay saying that. If he did say that I guess he was in his hypercritical Jay-holier than thou mode

I feel like I heard him say this to Angie but here it is
After discussing his lyrical motivation, Jay lamented the current state of hip-hop. "I don't think people process music the same way [we used to]," he said. "Before, we used to listen to lyrics and then find out if the beat was hot later and then did the Wop." In particular, he called out a line from MIMS's "This is Why I'm Hot" for condemnation. "When a guy says 'I could make a million saying nothing' on a track, you know you've reached a bad place," he said. "It's way past salvaging. I'm going the other way. That's why [my album] is the way it is."

How about ... New York is supporting the A$AP Mob, French Montana in 2013, and a very similar, south-inspired artist in Mims was already out there in 2007 :what:

Sure, you have Roc Marciano and some dudes like that. But they're not blowing up.

We're past the point of Dipset, Nas blowing up ... New York, in the mainstream, is losing its sound and it was hurting bad a few years ago when they had a guy who could have been a star in Mims.

That's what this whole thread is about. Why is NYC behind A$AP Mob and French Montana but not Mims? I'm a huge fan of Ferg and French Montana, but what separates them from Mims?

From this thread, users are saying it's Mims' lack of a background ... that's all this thread is about. Cities get behind shyttier rappers than Mims.

Is this a serious reply? Name one unique thing about French as an artist.

some of the beats he was rappin over mainly, them harry fraud beats are not the average beats people rap over, and he kinda made him hot wit shot caller

french had a major street dvd operation before he really started rapping, and if u followed max b u know french is just a funny nikka, and the nikka just knows how to make a hit

dont make no mistake about me giving a fukk bout his music, but dude had a actually street following before he blew, and mims was generic in the sense that we never heard of him, his music was wack and he just looked like a nikka would u was really checking for

ATL gets behind a song before it ever becomes a hit. It's a totally different scene. Songs here are broken in the club before they ever get played on the radio. By the time it hits the charts and the rest of the country is on it, it's already old news. Labels are like :lupe: and they sign the artist on the strength of that song and that's how we get:

Shop Boyz
D4L
Dem Franchize Boys
Ca$h Out
YC

and a host of others who disappeared after 1-3 songs or 1 album if they were fortunate.
yup dats y i be tellin ppl in da chi dat the hottest records in da,streets of atl will b spining at every club/radio/party/venue/vehicke 6 months later in otger cities i put alot of ppl on to jmoney yung la future 2chainz rich kids roscoe dash etc before mufukas evenknew who dey was i was telkin ppl these dudes are goin to blow uo wit dis new trap/futuristic sound and yall chicago ppl will b late. Dat whole area has birthed the new chi nusic scene chi is dying to b anotger atl but tgere is no unity in tge chi industry scene we only dride our artists if dey get a cosign first
